Dr. Anna Jobin is an Assistant Professor at the Human-IST Institute at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland), where she leads the interdisciplinary research group on the social Studies of Algorithms, Internet, & Society (SAIS). She has a multidisciplinary background in sociology, economics, and information management.

A fervent advocate of connected thinking, Dr. Jobin has been elected as an inaugural member of the Swiss Young Academy. She is also an advisory member at the Centre for Media, Communication and Information Research (ZeMKI) of the University of Bremen, and an associate member of the Sciences and Technologies Laboratory of Lausanne University. Previous research affiliations include EPFL, ETH Zurich, Tufts University and Cornell University. She is the former president of the Swiss Federal Media Commission, an extra-parliamentary commission tasked with advising the Swiss Federal Council on media policy, and an alumna of the Swiss Young Academy. She currently volunteers as a board member of the Swiss STS Association.

Her research is situated at the nexus of science, digital technology and society, with a particular focus on interaction with AI and algorithmic systems, (digital) ethics in research and citizen science, and AI governance. Her work has been published in Nature Machine Intelligence, Big Data & Society, Social Media + Society, and AI & Society. As an internationally recognized expert on the intersection of digital technology, new media and society, her research and expertise are also frequently featured in popular media.
